WDFA is equipped with a Digital Alert Systems DASDEC-II EAS encoder/decoder. This advanced EAS ENDEC comes with 3 built-in radios, an analog input monitor, and the ability to receive IPAWSCAP alerts. The DASDEC-II is using Radio 1 (L1-Main) to monitor NOAA Weather Radio station WXK49 in Memphis, and the analog audio input (R2-Aux) is being used to monitor NERP station 01RLYPA0 (see below for information on NERP). This unit does not require manual alert forwarding, so any alerts that are received by the DASDEC-II will be relayed as soon as possible.

WDFA is a participant of the Nationwide Encoder Relay Program (NERP). NERP is a hobbyist program run by Nick F. for EAS equipment operators to receive alerts throughout the United States via IP stream hosting & monitoring. IP radio is monitored by a participant for EAS broadcasts, and then is broadcasted again over the participant's IP stream, and the chain continues through the system. NERP also has civil alert originators, such as NERP "CAOS" and WFEP.
